CHRONIC PAIN IS REVERSIBLE
About how to overcome chronic pain.
Until not many years ago, when a person experienced pain for longer than considered normal, it was understood that this sensation would likely accompany them for the rest of their life. Thanks to new knowledge and advances in neuroscience over the last 20 years, we now understand more about the extent of neuroplasticity: the regenerative capacity and flexibility of our brain. The good news in all of this is that chronic pain is indeed reversible.
HOW IT WORKS?
Following a biopsychosocial model, it involves a reconfiguration of pain circuits, through various techniques based on nervous system relaxation. The first step is to provide the person with scientific information on how pain works within the body. Then we practice exercises based on cognitive psychology, self-compassion, and mindfulness (breathing, meditation, presence, etc.). The idea is to calm the nervous system by providing the person who suffers from chronic pain with the tools they need to move towards well-being.
This approach can help reduce or eliminate pain in the following cases, among many others:
CHRONIC MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN
ONCOLOGICAL PAIN
FIBROMYALGIA
COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME
AMPLIFIED MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN SYNDROME
CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME
MIGRAINES
PANIC ATTACKS
How long does it take?
Like all learning processes, this one also requires time, but it yields results. It’s important to understand that each person and each case is different, but generally, a minimum of 10-12 sessions (1 per week is ideal) is recommended for the person to start noticing significant differences.
